Shoppers have been left fuming after spotting Easter eggs at “disgusting” prices that are “only for the rich”.

Glenn Kennedy runs a social media group where he regularly shares some of the best and worst supermarket deals.

Earlier this week, on Wednesday (12 March), the Welshman visited Tesco where he noticed a themed product for sale.

Taking to Facebook, Glenn – who lives in Llandudno – shared shelves filled with Kinder Easter eggs – which are for sale at £22 a pop.

The price has enraged shoppers online, who say this is “’Greedflation’ at its best”.

One person even went so far as to say supermarkets are treating their customers “like idiots”.

The Easter eggs were found at a Tesco branch in Glenn’s hometown.

Jackie said: “Are they having a laugh it’s chocolate I’d rather spend the £22 on something else.”

Sharon added: “Greedflation at its best!!! Shocking!!!!!”

Sam said: “You gotta be taking the p***.”

Jillian added: “I no I seen them that’s a shopping list 22 pound disgusting only for the rich.”

Debi said: “U know what we all need to take a stand some of these supermarkets r taking the piss now treating us like idiots.”

Marian joked: “Kinder ridiculous!”

“Leave them on the shelves,” added Val.

Glenn also popped into B&M to see if they were offering any deals on his favourite Snickers Easter egg.

Product prices were substantially lower, with Twix and Maltesers egg on sale at £6 – though the shopper is still not impressed with this price.

There’s also a Galaxy version at just £3.50, which Glenn says “seems to be the standard at the moment” for 200g chocolate eggs – though he also claims you can get them cheaper at Tesco and Morrisons.

“The price of chocolate has gone through the roof,” said the savvy saver, whose supermarket deals Facebook group has over 416,000 members.

“I question whether suppliers and supermarkets are doing enough to keep the cost down.

“It’s pretty clear to me that you can just buy a chocolate bar which is the same in weight for a lot less.”

Jam Press contacted Tesco for comment.

A spokesperson said: “We have Easter eggs to suit every pocket at Tesco, with full-sized eggs for as little as £1.35 with a Tesco Clubcard to those containing full-sized toys.”
