A man who stuck a can of insecticide up his bum left it stuck in his rectum for six weeks.
The 56-year-old farmer allegedly inserted the foreign object by using a stick while “grazing his cattle in a nearby field”.
But he was later unable to remove it and felt too embarrassed to go to the doctor for assistance.

Due to the length of time the object remained in his body, the patient began experiencing abdominal pain and vomiting.
These symptoms worsened into fever, weakness, loose stools and decreased appetite.
The patient rushed to the hospital where he was told he had developed late-stage sepsis.
Doctors said he was in a “fair” mental state.
They administered IV fluids and antibiotics, and the can was successfully removed without the need for surgery.

During the treatment, they discovered the patient had also previously inserted a stone into his anus, which had to be removed.
The patient made a full recovery from the insecticide can’s effects within seven days.
He is reported to be “doing well” and is receiving counselling and therapy.
A case report from November 2024 recounting the danger of inserting foreign objects into the anus for sexual gratification said that incidents like this are on the rise.
Earlier this month, Need To Know reported that a man got a 20cm sex toy stuck up his bum.

Doctors were shocked to find it was still vibrating.
The 24-year-old arrived at hospital for emergency treatment where an emergency X-ray was carried out.

He was treated by Dr Chen Zhiyi, the director of medical surgery and chief physician specialising in colorectal medicine at Yida Hospital in Shanghai, China.

With the patient’s consent, the doctor used obstetric forceps to remove the vibrator.
