But when his master was buried, the pup was unable to understand why.
In a clip shared to TikTok, which has gathered 5.4 million views, cemetery workers can be seen beginning to seal the coffin with cement slabs.
The dog then jumped onto the slabs and started to sniff around while looking directly at the coffin below.
Even when the coffin was covered with soil and artificial turf, Crispín did not give up.
He started to dig a small hole at the edge of the site, putting his head in and out, seemingly looking for his best friend.
The video was captioned: “The man’s best friend until the end, his name is Crispín and he is my cousin’s puppy.
“When he was sick Crispín did not separate from him, until the day he died Crispín accompanied him.
“Crispín did not understand why my cousin was underground and wanted to go with him.
“Thank you Crispín for accompanying my cousin to the end.”
