A traffic warden used a tape measure to issue parking tickets at 3am.
A shocked onlooker spotted him using it to see how far a car was from the curb.
The uniformed man was standing next to the silver Honda Jazz when he was approached.

It happened in the early hours of the morning of last Friday (4 Apr).
This particular vehicle was parked quite far from the pavement which could have been a potential hazard to passing cars.
He was heard saying it ‘50cm’ away from the curb.
The law states that any further than 50cm is illegal, as reported by Need To Know.
The shocked onlooker in Northampton said: “At this time, it’s 3am boss and you’re giving a ticket.
“How can you do that boss, are you not meant to be sleeping.
“The money doesn’t stop eh.”
Local Chris Weatherby said: “You need to book a holiday to get that far from the curb.”
Lee said: “100% deserves the ticket, who parks like that.”
Another added: “They only work 9 to 5, this is pure love of the game.”
One other said: “Overtime dedication, give that man a promotion.”
One added: “I mean who parks like that.”
West Northamptonshire Council have been approached for a comment.
