Doctors were stunned to find huge, pyramid-shaped stones in a patient’s bladder.
A man in his 40s went into hospital having had issues with his catheter, having had a bladder augmentation and a catheterizable stoma fitted in childhood.
While he had no symptoms of pain, fever or infection, the patient, who has spina bifida, a urinary ultrasound revealed the issue: six “giant” bladder stones with geometrical shapes.

Bizarrely, five of the stones are in a uniform pyramid shape, while the sixth is a cube.
A cystolithotomy – surgical procedure to remove bladder stones – was performed, and doctors found the cube-shaped stone measured 7x7x7cm, whereas the pyramid-shaped stones measured roughly 6x6x6 each.

In total, the stones weighed 4.6lbs, reports Need To Know.
Pictures shared in a recent medical journal show the fascinating shapes of the stones, as well as the scan image where they can be clearly seen.

The patient, who was treated at Mersin Tarsus State Hospital in Türkiye, was discharged after 10 days in hospital, with follow-up checks reporting no new stones.
