An eight-year-old girl has died after taking part in a viral challenge which saw her inhale aerosol deodorant.
Sara Raíssa Pereira suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest after she allegedly participated in the controversial ‘deodorant challenge’.
The challenge, which has recently surfaced online, involves inhaling large amounts of aerosol.

Sara was admitted to a hospital on 10 April where doctors spent an hour trying to resuscitate her.
Their attempts were successful but three days later it was found that she was unresponsive to stimuli.
Sara was pronounced brain dead on 13 April, as reported by Need To Know.

The Civil Police of the Federal District has opened an investigation into the youngster’s death.
According to local press, the mobile phone the girl was using was seized and will be sent for forensic analysis.
Delegate João de Ataliba said that depending on the circumstances, the person responsible for publishing the challenge may be prosecuted for double qualified homicide.

The penalty could be up to 30 years in prison.
Sara’s family have been left heartbroken by the loss of their little girl and have started a fundraiser online to raise money for her funeral in Taguatinga, Brazil.
