The vehicle was on top of a small platform, which led to an opening more than halfway up the unfinished building.
The platform was being held by the crane several yards above the ground, as reported by Need To Know.
The worker began driving into the building, but just as the front of the forklift reached the edge, the platform gave way.
The vehicle toppled backwards with the worker still in the seat.
The forklift was upside down when it hit the ground below with a thud about two seconds later.
The man’s horrified colleagues could be seen peering over the edge as the crane wobbled in the air.
The tragedy, in Vietnam, happened last month but only came to light last Thursday (17 Apr).
The unnamed forklift operator died instantly, it’s understood.
