A young businesswoman drowned in a river while swimming with friends.
María Camila Loaiza was walking along the riverbank with a group of pals when she decided to venture in on her own.
The 23-year-old was overwhelmed by the currents and ended up being swept away.

Several friends also found themselves being carried away when they tried to rescue her.
The group eventually managed to rescue María from the rapids and take her to hospital, but she couldn’t be saved.

She died at the River Manso near the town of Norcasia, located south-east of Medellín, Colombia, on Good Friday (18 Apr).
She lived in the city of La Dorada about 25 miles away.

The day before, a man from Bogotá also died in the same tributary.
State governor Henry Gutiérrez Ángel said: “We deeply regret the tragic events that occurred at the River Manso.
“In two days, two people lost their lives at the same point, a citizen from Bogotá and a young woman living in La Dorada.

“Both entered the river without the guidance of an authorised tour operator.
“The circumstances are still under investigation, but we reiterate an urgent call for caution: do not visit this area without certified guides who know the area and operate with safety protocols.”
María owned a clothing store in La Dorada called Apolo Galactic, as reported by Need To Know.
She ran the business with her partner Sergio Castaño Gonzalez.
He said of María’s untimely passing: “I don’t see the logic in your plans God, I just accept them.
“I accept that today you left my soul shattered, I accept that you took the love of my life from me.

“Although you have gone ahead of me, our connection will last for eternity.
“I can’t find any explanation or consolation, thank you for being an admirable person and an exceptional woman.”
As well as being a successful entrepreneur, María loved fashion, cosmetology, and working out in the gym.
Her funeral was held in her family’s hometown of Aranzazu on Sunday (20 Apr).
