Shoplifters are increasingly targeting Greggs across the UK amid the cost-of-living crisis.

It has become such an epidemic for the bakery chain that earlier this year, its flagship in Leicester Square hired a former serviceman as a bouncer to protect their stock.

A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “At the moment it doesn’t look like this has been reported to police.”

Greggs has been approached for comment.
