A popular social media star has died from a rare fungal infection.
Nazário Melo suffered health complications.
It was caused by “fungal meningitis associated with tuberculosis.”

Fungal meningitis is a rare but serious fungal infection that causes the lining of the brain and spinal cord to swell.
It is believed Nazário was in hospital when he died in Manaus, Brazil.

The tragic news has left his 20,000 Instagram and Facebook followers in shock, as reported by Need To Know.
Igor commented: “My friend, such an incredible person, with a beautiful soul.
“Pure, young, full of a thirst to be happy and make others happy, a kind heart!”
And Kevin wrote: “You were one of the kindest guys I had the pleasure of meeting in life.

“Thank you for being a good soul I came across on this journey.”
Nazário used social media to post cheerful moments from his daily life, such as days out at the beach or nights out in the club.
His Instagram bio says: “This is my journey. You can follow, you can comment, but you can’t judge me.”

Experts have warned that for individuals with weakened immune systems, fungal infections in any part of the body can spread and lead to fungal meningitis.
In rare cases, the condition may result from contamination during medical treatments or procedures.
Fungal meningitis is challenging to detect.
