AI robot nurses have now become a reality with a tech company unveiling its latest development.
Intended to battle future healthcare crises, Nurabot was built by the electronics brand Foxconn and AI computing company NVIDIA.
The machine has been designed to combat burnout.

The idea is to provide “better patient care” by allowing the machine to take over some tasks such as ward patrols, visitor guidance and medicine or specimen deliveries.

By doing so, they allow nurses more time to focus on other tasks.
The Nurabot has a special tray installed inside of it, as well as eyes and a smile visible on its screen.

Foxconn has also created a suite of smart hospital tools with NVIDIA technology, such as AI models that can track a patient’s vitals, as reported by Need To Know.

Giant AI models are created through supercomputers, and hospitals then train and test them in pairs.
Medical centres in Taiwan including the Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Baishatun Tung Hospital, Mazu Hospital and Cardinal Tien Hospital are already on board.
The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that there could be a shortage of 4.5m nurses by 2030 due to burnout.
Could AI be the answer to this problem?
Foxconn claims it can cut nurse workloads by 30% and can take off pressure during visiting hours and night shifts.
The hope is that future versions of the Nurabot will be able to talk to patients in multiple languages, recognise faces and even help lift patients.
Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, discussed Foxconn’s healthcare push during COMPUTEX, a leading global exhibition taking place in Taipei City, the capital of Taiwan.
It focuses on advances in technology and startups and will conclude on 23 May.
