A hapless hero has been rescued from a bin after he climbed in to help retrieve a woman’s belongings.
The unnamed man was walking along the street when he spotted a woman had accidentally dropped something into the metal container.
Without hesitation, he climbed inside in a bid to retrieve her item.
But he quickly became stuck and realised he would need some help getting back out, as reported by Need To Know.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and attempted to place a ladder inside the bin, which was wedged underground.
Several men took part in the rescue operation.
Eventually, the container had to be pulled out of the ground and emptied.
The man was seen successfully emerging from the bin with no injuries.
The unusual mishap took place on Monday (23 June) in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
