A footballer is fighting for his life in hospital after a horror crash that killed his pregnant wife and their unborn baby.
The tragedy unfolded on Saturday (26 Jul) around 4 p.m., when a speeding BMW slammed into the back of the couple’s Fiat Seicento.
The impact shunted their car into the vehicle ahead, leaving it crushed.

Patrycja Niedziela, who was eight months pregnant and sitting in the front passenger seat, suffered a cardiac arrest caused by her injuries and died at the scene.
Paramedics performed an emergency C-section on the 29-year-old in a desperate attempt to save the baby.

The newborn was rushed to a nearby hospital in Katowice, Poland, but tragically did not survive.
Patrycja’s husband, Kevin Ricardo Sánchez García, was critically injured and remains in a coma, fighting for his life in the hospital.
According to an online fundraiser for his treatment, Kevin suffered “serious injuries, multiple brain hematomas, a fractured pelvis, and damaged kidneys.”
The campaign states: “He is currently in a coma, but doctors are preparing to wake him soon.
“Ahead lies a long and painful journey toward recovery, both physically and emotionally.
“Kevin will require intensive rehabilitation, specialised care, and psychological support to help him cope with a new and heartbreaking reality.”

Originally from Mexico City, Kevin came to Poland to take part in a language course.
This led to a scholarship and the opportunity to study at the University of Silesia’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, as reported by Need To Know.
After graduating, he stayed in Poland and met Patrycja before the COVID-19 pandemic through a mutual friend who was teaching her Spanish.
The couple married in February 2024.
Outside of work, Kevin played football for seventh-tier side UKS Czułowianka Tychy.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Let’s show that in the face of such unimaginable loss, we can stand together and support him through this incredibly difficult time.”
Tychy’s mayor, Maciej Gramatyka, recalled: “I met Patrycja and Kevin a few months ago. They were young, smiling, and in love.
“We met on their wedding day and spoke about their plans, their dreams, and the future they hoped to build together.”
He added, “It’s hard to imagine what their family and loved ones must be going through. I offer them my deepest condolences.”
