An influencer has been left shocked after her boyfriend brought his “transphobic” mum along to a dinner date without telling her.
Suellen Carey has enjoyed a more wild dating life than most, making headlines in the past for marrying and divorcing herself, as well as creating an AI boyfriend.
After dipping back into the dating pool, the transgender influencer, who boasts 500,00 followers, was stunned to be faced with a new issue altogether.
While enjoying a date with a new love interest, the 39-year-old claims he surprised her by bringing along his mother.
“The dinner had been arranged with only my partner, who I’d been dating for three months,” Suellen told Need To Know.
“However, upon arriving at the restaurant, I was surprised to find his mother already at the table.
“At that point, things spiralled.
“She realised that I was a trans woman and reacted negatively, creating an uneasy atmosphere.”
According to Suellen, she had always been open with her boyfriend about her gender identity.
She said: “I’ve never tried to hide who I am.
“For me, the responsibility for the awkward situation was his, since he invited her to dinner without warning me that his mother would be there.
“He has always known that I’m a trans woman.
“He should have told her before, because I’m very confident in who I am.”
And to make the night worse, her budding new boyfriend got up and left the table with his mother, leaving Suellen alone and confused.
She said: “The mother said that I am not the kind of daughter-in-law she wants.
“Then the man said goodbye and left with her.
“I don’t think I want to see him again.
“I’ll let him stay with his little life and his mummy.”
Suellen, who is originally from Brazil but now lives in London, added: “This future mother-in-law would only bring problems.”
