A young influencer who dreamed of becoming a nanny was left heartbroken when she went through over 50 interviews but received no job offers.
Alê Gaúcha believes the reason she didn’t get hired is simple: she’s too attractive.
The 21-year-old, who graduated from a nanny course three years ago, dreamed of gaining financial independence while doing what she loves.
But the now-content creator, who has over 525,000 followers, was dismayed when she realised that her “curves drew more attention than my qualifications”.
“I would go in confident, present my certificates, talk about everything I had learned, but no one ever got back to me,” she told Need To Know.
“At first, I thought it was due to lack of experience, but after so many attempts, I started to believe the reason was something else.
I felt like my appearance spoke louder than the course I had taken.
“My curves always drew more attention than my qualifications.
“That was frustrating because I wanted to show my professional side, but it seemed like no one could see it.”
Instead of getting angry, Alê decided to leverage the beauty that employers couldn’t seem to see past.
She put all her efforts into making social media content and soon saw her follower count rise.
Alê, from Porto Alegre, Brazil, said: “Since my curves always drew so much attention, I decided to make them part of my professional life.
“Many people only see me as an adult content creator and can’t imagine that I once thought about living another way.
“And I also know that, even if I don’t practice today, the nanny I once was is still with me.
“I still feel connected to that experience because I dedicated myself and prepared for it.
“On one side, I was looking for stability; on the other, I found freedom.”
