A young woman was left scared after claiming a £4.60 hot water bottle she bought on TikTok burst into flames.
Kia Smith said she was trying to charge the new electric gadget for the first time.
She claimed it started smoking and then suddenly caught fire, burning straight through the fabric.

The 23-year-old ordered two “electric rechargeable hot water bottle bed hand warmer massaging heat pad covers” from TikTok Shop – one grey and one pink.
She paid £4.60 each after a discount reduced the total to £9.20.

But Kia said her excitement turned to terror when the gadget went up in flames during its first charge.
After putting out the first fire, Kia said she decided to test the grey bottle outside.
But within 30 seconds of plugging it in, it burst into flames again, she said.
Kia filmed it on her mobile phone.
TikTok confirmed the product has now been pulled from sale while an investigation is underway.
“I was scared as it could have been a lot worse if I had gone out and left it on charge,” Kia, from Malvern, Worcestershire, told Need To Know.
“After my first one caught fire during its first charge, I took this one outside to test it.
“It took under 30 seconds to burn.”
A TikTok spokesperson said: “We prioritise the safety of our customers and take any concerns about product safety extremely seriously.
“We have removed this product from our platform whilst we fully investigate this issue.”
