An expectant mum who’d almost given up hope of becoming a parent is now preparing to welcome twins at 43 – and believes a change in her diet made it happen.

Molly Brown spent more than three years trying for a baby with her husband Zach Hosny, 34.

In that time, she went through the heartbreak of eight miscarriages, two rounds of hormone treatment and countless negative pregnancy tests.

But after years of disappointment, Molly decided to take matters into her own hands.

Having spent a decade as a vegan and vegetarian, she switched to a carnivore diet at the start of this year – and just a few months later, she fell pregnant naturally.

By April 2025, doctors confirmed that she was expecting identical twin boys.

“If you want something bad enough, you go for it,” she told Need To Know.

“But I was getting tired of trying.

“It was a burden on the relationship and hard on my hormones and my mind.

“I was tired even thinking about it.

“When I found out I was pregnant again, I knew to be cautiously optimistic. I thought, okay, here we go again, let’s see.

“I went in for my ultrasound by myself and could see two babies on the screen. I had seen enough ultrasounds at that point to be able to tell.

“We were excited, kind of freaked out and definitely in shock. Who wouldn’t want twins?

“Even when I think about it now, I’m like, okay, there’s two babies growing inside me – that’s weird. We’re going to be juggling a lot.

“I still try not to get too excited or too happy – I don’t want the rug to be pulled from under me.”

After everything she’s been through, Molly is now certain her switch to a carnivore diet helped her finally conceive.

Having spent years avoiding meat, the artist began eating high-quality animal protein, eggs, butter and collagen-rich foods – and believes the boost in nutrients and healthy fats played a key role.

While she’s not a doctor or scientist, Molly truly believes the lifestyle change made all the difference.

She said: “I watched a video of a doctor who recommended being on a carnivore diet to get pregnant.

“So, I started switching my diet up.

“I was vegetarian/vegan for 10 years because of IBS – I thought meat wouldn’t digest well – and because it’s hard to get clean meat at the grocery store.

“After listening to some of those podcasts about being carnivore, I thought, I’ve tried everything else, let’s try something in that direction.

“I would have three eggs over medium – runny in the middle but whites cooked – with butter on top at the end and a couple of strips of bacon.

“I also added in supplements like NMN, NAD, Resveratrol, CoQ10, and Glutathione.

“For lunch, a lot of times I would have leftovers from the previous dinner – a ground beef stir-fry kind of thing.

“It could be a few slices of steak with butter on it and a small side of veggies.

“I can’t say this is exactly what helped me – I’m not a scientist or a doctor – but I think it did.”

Despite finally falling pregnant with miracle twins, Molly’s pregnancy has been far from smooth sailing.

At 17 weeks, the mum-to-be discovered her babies were suffering from Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) – a rare but serious condition where there is a disproportionate blood supply between the foetuses.

She was rushed for emergency surgery the very next day where doctors successfully performed a laser procedure to save both babies.

Molly said: “For everything we’ve been through, the babies are growing and looking good.

“I’m 26 weeks now but I’m praying to make it to at least week 32 or 34 to keep them from having so much NICU time.

“Because these babies have these issues, if we could get to December that would be amazing.”

Since the health scare, Molly, from Reno, Nevada, has undergone multiple weekly check-ups as her pregnancy remains high-risk.

Her official due date is in January but doctors expect she’ll deliver in December – just in time for Christmas.

And she has no worries about being an older mum.

She said: “I feel lucky that I’m at a time where it’s a lot more accepted for my generation and for the advanced technology that is helping the twins.

“I have a friend who had a baby at 16.

“I had friends and family having babies in their 20s and 30s.

“Being in my 40s, it’s a very different setup.

“It’s a little bit harder in my friend circle – they’re not having kids right now.

“They’re done, or their kids are maybe 10/11 years old, or they’re in college.

“So I reach out to older mums on TikTok.

“It’s a really good way to connect with mums who are also having twins with similar issues.

“There is a stigma around being an older mum in the US.

“I’m not worried about it – I’m very secure in my age.

“Being an older mum, you don’t care about as many things anymore, like who’s doing what or if your friends are doing the same thing.”

Molly feels grateful, positive and focused on keeping her babies healthy – by sticking to a high-protein, high-fat diet of steak, eggs, butter and clean organic meat.

And she’s allowing herself to believe this is finally her time.

She added: “We’ve had a lot of people praying for us.

“I’ve been doing a lot of praying also.

“Doctors say diet doesn’t matter but I believe it still does.

“I feel very lucky I was able to get pregnant and have twins and go through this experience, even though it’s been hard.

“I feel very excited to raise good and respectful children in a world that sometimes feels pretty chaotic right now.

“I’m excited to teach them our good morals and I’m an artist so I’ll do crafts with them, decorate for holidays and cook good food for them.

“It feels like a really big blessing.”
