A crime gang who were found flogging ‘high-end parking’ have been busted at a Shakira gig.

The group of nine were illegally charging fans to park their cars at the pop star’s concert.

The operation saw fans being charged up to a whopping £20 (40,000 ARS).

Amongst the gang were eight men and one woman, including a prison guard, a trade union employee, and members of a football hooligan group.

The arrests were made near the Vélez Sársfield Stadium, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Pop icon Shakira was performing the night the gang were caught on Tuesday (9 Dec), as reported by Need To Know.

Investigating officers charged the group with conspiracy and fraud.

Buenos Aires City Police had established a security operation that was monitoring the gang during events at the Vélez Sársfield Stadium.

The gang targeted drivers in search of a parking space, charging them over the official rate for spaces.

The location used by the crew had 300 authorised spots, with the gang using a further 60 unauthorised spots to line their pockets.

During the arrests, the police seized ten mobile phones, five ‘union’ documents and over £52 (100,000 Argentine Pesos) in cash.

All involved will allegedly be handed a two-year ban from football stadiums in an effort to put a stop to hooligan groups and crime linked with these events.

The company that owns the hypermarket parking lot, where the operation took place, released a statement.

A spokesperson for the business said: “Amid the confusion of the operation, three employees were preventively detained, even though they were performing their usual tasks in the formal parking lots authorised for the event.

“The three employees were quickly released, once it was verified that they had no connection with the illegal activities under investigation.

“The activities under investigation correspond exclusively to people outside our company, who were operating on public roads without authorisation and charging for non-existent or unauthorised parking spaces.”
