A young footballer has died after suffering devastating injuries in a horror motorbike crash.
Wilmer Antonio López Campos, a promising player for Club Sitraterco, was killed in a tragic collision in the early hours of Saturday morning (13 Dec).
The 22-year-old was rushed to hospital after losing control of his motorcycle shortly after midnight, but doctors were unable to save him.
Initial reports suggested Wilmer may have been involved in an illegal street race but his family has strongly denied the claims.
The incident happened in San Pedro Sula, Cortés, Honduras, as reported by Need To Know.
Locals in the area said they were jolted awake by the sound of a violent crash before emergency services arrived at the scene.
