A 26-year-old football captain was shot dead by criminals during an attempted motorcycle theft.
Carlos Omar Oyuela Aguilar was riding along a road on Tuesday night (27 Jan) when several armed men blocked his path.
A struggle broke out as they tried to steal his bike, and Carlos was shot at least six times.

The attackers then fled, apparently without the motorcycle, leaving him critically injured at the scene in Marcovia, southern Honduras.
He was rushed to a hospital in Choluteca before being transferred to a larger facility in the capital, Tegucigalpa.
Despite medics’ efforts, he died shortly after admission there, as reported by Need To Know.
Carlos, from Soledad, played for the local team Club Deportivo Nápoles, which last competed in the Campeonato Navideño 2025-26 tournament.

The club paid heartfelt tribute to him, saying: “Today, CD Nápoles mourns the loss of our captain, Carlos Omar Oyuela.
“His leadership, dedication, and love for football left an unforgettable mark both on and off the pitch.
“We send our deepest condolences and strength to his family, embracing them with respect and solidarity in this time of profound grief.
“We also keep his teammates and friends in our prayers. Rest in peace, captain; your legacy will live forever in the heart of CD Nápoles.”
Social media condolences suggest Carlos is survived by a wife, a brother, and his parents.
Authorities are now investigating to identify and capture his killers.
Honduras in Central America continues to struggle with one of the highest murder rates in the world.
