Ana Luisa Peluffo made her film debut with a small role in the US classic ‘Tarzan and the Mermaids’ starring Johnny Weissmuller in 1948.

She went on to star in over 200 productions in a career that spanned eight decades.

Ana is etched into the history books as the first actor to appear nude in a film in her home country Mexico.

She performed the full-frontal nude scene in ‘La Fuerza del Deseo’ (‘The Power of Desire’) in 1955.

Ana, who came from the Mexican city of Santiago de Querétaro, passed away aged 96 yesterday (4 Mar).

According to a family statement, she was surrounded by loved ones at her ranch in Tepatitlán.

“She lived peacefully in her final years, close to her son and surrounded by care,” the statement said.

“We deeply appreciate the affection of all those who, over the years, valued her career and enjoyed her work.

“Her memory will live on in those who knew her and valued her presence and her historical legacy,” the statement concluded.

According to her wishes, her funeral services will be held privately.

As well as acting, Ana was a synchronised swimmer and keen painter, as reported by Need To Know.

A leading figure in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, Ana is best known for films such as ‘The Seducer’ in 1955, ‘Diana the Huntress’ in 1957, ‘To Each His Life’ in 1960, and ‘Paper Flowers’ in 1977, which debuted at the 28th Berlin International Film Festival.

She also had a distinguished career in television, starring in soap operas such as ‘Bonds of Love’, ‘You and I’, and ‘Dreamers’.
