A businesswoman has died aged 33 after undergoing a liposuction op.
Jessica Santiago Souza went to the clinic to undergo a thigh lift, liposculpture and a Renuvion skin tightening procedure under general anaesthetic.
During surgery, Jessica encountered hemodynamic instability, a failure in the cardiovascular system and in the oxygenation of the organs.

This then progressed to cardiorespiratory arrest, according to the police.
The medical team performed resuscitation manoeuvres on the patient but she did not survive.
The shop owner, who also worked as a teacher, passed away in Tangará da Serra, in western Brazil, as reported by Need To Know.
The name of the clinic where the surgery was performed was not released by the authorities.

Jessica’s daughter Yasmin Souza Menezes said her mother was “completely healthy” and underwent several tests before the operations.
She added: “If there was something that would have prevented her from having the surgery, she wouldn’t have had it.
“She took very good care of her health to be able to have this operation.”
She said Jessica experienced complications early in the procedure just as they were beginning liposuction on her upper back.

Yasmin, who has recently started university, also announced that she plans to take over her mother’s business, a clothing store in Pontes e Lacerda.
She said she will continue with both her studies and the company’s operations as that’s what her mother would have wanted.
Jessica passed away on 17 Feb but the police only confirmed they are investigating her death as possible malpractice on Monday (2 Mar).
The investigation into Jessica’s death is ongoing.
