The pick-up driver stopped immediately to check on him.
Zalek was taken to A&E with life-threatening injuries but died in the ambulance shortly before arrival in Medellín, Colombia.
Originally from Barranquilla, Zalek was a rising star in urban and Latin music.

At the time of his death, he had over 900,000 followers on TikTok, more than 50,000 on Instagram, and nearly 33,000 subscribers on YouTube.
His 2025 song “Ay amor” has amassed 10m views on YouTube, as reported by NeedToKnow.
He had worked with well-known artists including Elder Dayán, Luister La Voz, and Fanny Lu.
In an interview, Zalek – whose real first name was Eduardo – spoke about what mattered most in music.
“I think it has to be authenticity, that drive – you can see it,” he said. “It stands out more than words ever could.”

He also cited singers Carin and Maluma as “those pillars that allow us, as artists, to keep moving forward”.
Artist manager Gus Rincón paid tribute: “A few years ago, a super-talented guy from the coast came to show me his songs. From that very first day, I knew Eduardo was a remarkable artist.
“Over time, I realised he was an even greater person: humble, cheerful, thoughtful, fiercely disciplined, a perfectionist, and a true friend. To me, he was like a son – the kind whose dreams you share and hope to see grow.”
The crash remains under investigation.
