A US tourist has been found dead after falling from a great height during a mountain trek.
Sean Christopher Bartel went missing from his rented apartment last Thursday (12 Mar).
The Airbnb owner contacted the authorities on Saturday after he failed to check out.
The American tourist, who was travelling alone, was found dead the following day.
The 37-year-old’s body was located on the trail to the Ojo del Albino glacier on Argentina’s southern tip.
The authorities first found his hire car in a parking lot at the start of the trail on Sunday afternoon.
They then found his body about two miles from where his vehicle was parked.

A police spokesperson said: “No signs of criminal activity were found, and the hypothesis is that he fell from a great altitude.”
Sean, who worked as a journalist, had arrived in the resort town of Ushuaia alone last week.
CCTV footage showed him leaving his rented apartment in clothes deemed inappropriate for mountainous trekking.
Inside the apartment, investigators found all his belongings, including his passport.
Sean had embarked on a trip around the world and had racked up 56 countries at the time of his death, as reported by Need To Know.

He arrived in Argentina after visiting Brazil and Uruguay.
He shared content related to his experiences on his Instagram page.
In his last ever post, Sean was seen posing in front of a sign for Ushuaia on Wednesday, one day before his disappearance.
An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances leading up to the US citizen’s passing.
