A singer allegedly shot dead his ex-girlfriend – 26 years his junior – before turning the gun on himself.

Medical student Isabel Cristina Oliveira dos Santos was fatally shot inside the flat where she lived on Sunday night (22 Mar).

Silvio Souza Silva then turned the .38-calibre revolver on himself.

The gun and ammunition were later seized at the scene.

Isabel, 22, and Silvio, 48, had been in a relationship for around six years and had a three-year-old daughter together.

Relatives say the pair argued frequently.

The relationship began when she was 16 and he was 42.

They lived together for two years before separating and later living apart.

It is believed Silvio never came to terms with the break-up and continued to pressure Isabel to take him back.

Isabel had taken out a restraining order against Silvio in February, citing threats and episodes of violence.

Despite this, he continued to visit the flat in Recife, Brazil.

She had been due to return to the Women’s Police Station on Tuesday (24 Mar), as reported by Need To Know.

On the day of the shooting, witnesses told police there had been an argument between the two.

Afterwards, Silvio left the block of flats but returned a short while later.

The first people to enter the flat after the gunshots were heard were Isabel’s sister, her girlfriend and the ex-couple’s daughter.

They found Isabel and Silvio with gunshot wounds to the head.

Isabel had been studying medicine at the Catholic University of Pernambuco since 2024 and was in her fourth term.

The university paid tribute, describing her as a “talented and promising young woman, full of dreams and committed to her professional training and to caring for others”.

Silvio was a romantic brega – a Brazilian music genre – singer known by the stage name Dom Silver.

He had 661,000 followers on Instagram at the time of writing.

He was also the managing director of a doors and windows company.

He had been arrested on 25 January for threats and domestic violence but was released just hours later after posting bail.

Police are investigating the case.
