The pirouetting bot nearly hit the flinching boy with one careless spin.
But it caught the lad fully in the face with the next pirouette.
The youngster grimaced as he put his hand to his sore face.
It appeared to catch a smaller lad on the forehead in the same movement.
The controller was seen turning the robot off as the video came to an end.
The painful encounter was filmed at a dance show in Shaanxi Province, China, on Saturday (21 Mar).
One local said: “The child anticipated it, but there was no way out.”
“What a dangerous performance,” added another.
A third remarked: “It really hurts to be hit by metal.”
A similar incident took place in Shaanxi last month when a dancing robot went into an epic meltdown, as reported by Need To Know.
The android, decked out like MJ, kicked off its routine with a stylish spin in the middle of a circle of onlookers.
It looked poised for a moonwalk before suddenly wobbling towards the crowd.
A young man rushed over to help, but the robot face-planted the ground and went berserk.
The unlucky man took a kick to the face, sending his cap flying.
He nursed his injuries as the humanoid writhed on the concrete, prompting the audience to step back.
