An American influencer has died in ‘suspicious’ circumstances’ after getting engaged to her partner on holiday.
Ashlee Jenae travelled to Zanzibar with her fiancé, Joe McCann, to celebrate her birthday on 5 April.
The lifestyle influencer, who had over 80,000 Instagram fans, celebrated her 31st birthday on the trip.

In her final post, she wrote: “Chapter 31 and I’m exactly where I need to be.”
Joe, the founder of crypto fund Asymmetric Financial, had also proposed to her during a safari on the trip.

According to a statement released by her family on Sunday, the dream holiday quickly turned into a “nightmare”.
Ashlee, whose real name was Ashly Robinson, was found unconscious in her villa at the Zuri Zanzibar resort and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead hours later.
Her partner reportedly told Tanzanian authorities that the 31-year-old had died by suicide.
However, the influencer’s family and close friends have fiercely rejected the claim, describing her as full of life.
Savannah Britt, a public relations executive and close friend of the deceased, has publicly disputed the claim.
In a viral post, she stated: “Anyone who knows Ash knows she would NEVER commit suicide.
“We need answers now!”
Loved ones have pointed to what they describe as suspicious circumstances.
These include unverified allegations that her partner delayed notifying the authorities by two days, as well as claims that he scrubbed his social media accounts following the tragedy.
Ashlee, who was based in Miami, had amassed a large following on Instagram by documenting what she called a “soft life” philosophy of positivity, as reported by Need To Know.

The exact location where the influencer was found remains subject to conflicting reports, with some sources claiming she was inside her hotel room and others stating she was found outside.
No official autopsy or toxicology results have been released to the public.
Tanzanian authorities are continuing to handle the active investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.
The family has asked the public to treat any information not directly provided by them as unverified.
