A woman was left ‘shocked’ after waking up from surgery to discover her tattoos had completely disappeared.
Aleigha Cartmen, 23, said she only realised something was missing after her partner pointed it out.
The unexpected moment came following a cosmetic procedure abroad.

Her video, posted to TikTok via @a_cartfart52, has since racked up more than 749,700 views.
“I didn’t even notice at first,” said Aleigha, who lives in London, Ontario.

“It was my boyfriend who pointed it out.”
Aleigha travelled to Turkey for a breast reduction after wanting the procedure for nearly a year.
While she knew excess skin would be removed, she admits her tattoos weren’t a priority at the time.
“I was more focused on the procedure,” she explained.

“When I looked in the mirror beforehand, I couldn’t really see them anyway because of how my stomach sat.
“So when I woke up, I didn’t realise they were gone.”
It wasn’t until her partner mentioned it that she realised what had happened.
“When I noticed, I was more surprised than upset,” she said.
“The surgeon and I even had a laugh about it because I hadn’t noticed at all.”
The tattoos – one a paw print of a beloved pet, the other a personal memory – had been inked when she was a teenager.
But Aleigha says she has made peace with losing them.
“I cherished them, but I think it was time for them to go,” she said.
She added: “It would have been nice if when they removed tattoos you paid for, you had the option to take them home with you.”
Despite the surprise, Aleigha says the surgery has been life-changing.

“I’m so happy with my new look,” she said.
“It’s a lot less stress on my back and it suits my body so much better.”
Before the procedure, she struggled daily with pain and discomfort.
“It was very hard to sleep with all that pressure,” she said.
“I had constant irritation under my breasts, and even going up and down stairs was painful.

“My chest would get pulled and I’d have to take breaks.”
Now recovering, she says she has no plans to replace the lost ink.
And while the tattoos may be gone, she’s gained something far more valuable – comfort in her own body.
Viewers were left stunned by the revelation, with many questioning how the situation wasn’t discussed beforehand.
One user, named Jacey wrote: “They for sure had to discuss this with you before… RIGHT??”
Irene joked: “Ask to keep them and make them into earrings.”
