One hundred and sixty sheep were killed when the lorry transporting them overturned.
Shocking footage showed scores of the animals lying motionless on the grassy slope beside the road.
The accident happened when the livestock lorry left the roadway and overturned just before an ascent onto a bridge.

Of the 288-strong flock, only 128 sheep survived.
The incident took place around 3am on Tuesday (21 Apr) in Năvodari, Romania.
The surviving animals were rescued and taken back to the farm, where they were placed under veterinary supervision.
The driver emerged from the crash unscathed, as reported by Need To Know.
He was breathalysed by police and tested negative for alcohol.
The sheep were being transported to the port of Midia to be loaded for export.
Firefighters and police were dispatched to the scene and halted traffic until all carcasses and surviving animals had been removed.
Police have opened an investigation to determine how the accident occurred.
Corina Ivanciu, executive director of the Constanța Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate, told local media: “One hundred and sixty animals are dead.
“One hundred and twenty-eight have been transported to the original farm, where they will be placed in quarantine and properly cared for.
“The rest will be disposed of through incineration.”
