A woman was found dead while on holiday celebrating her birthday as police launch a search for her husband.
Melissa Kerry Samnath, 35, from New York but originally from Jamaica, died after being taken to Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James, according to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
In a public statement, police said Samnath had travelled to Jamaica to celebrate her birthday with Dane Watson, who investigators believe she married in December 2025.

Hospital staff later contacted police after she was pronounced dead on 29 April.
A post-mortem examination carried out on 6 May found Samnath died from “multiple blunt force trauma to the head”.
Investigators later recovered evidence linked to the case from a property in Norwood, St James.
The JCF said: “Ms. Samnath was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James by Watson, who reportedly left the medical facility shortly after assisting her from a motor vehicle.”

Police have now named Watson as a person of interest and urged him to report to the Freeport Police Station or the nearest police station immediately.
A GoFundMe page launched by relatives to cover funeral and memorial costs described Samnath as a “strong, loving, and unforgettable woman”, as reported by Need To Know.
The page states: “She loved traveling, exploring new places, and spending time with the people she cared for most.
“Her loss has left a deep pain in our family that words cannot fully express.”
JCF added: “Anyone with information that can assist investigators in locating him is being asked to contact the Freeport Police.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
