Her 42-year-old ex-partner, a former lorry driver named only as Sutat, reportedly lured her to the location under the pretext of delivering 20 litres of petrol.
As she stood by her white Honda Jazz preparing to siphon the fuel, he allegedly shot her once in the back – the bullet exiting through her chest – and once in the back of the head.
The 26-year-old died at the scene on Phaholyothin Road in Tambon Dao Rueang, Saraburi Province, Thailand.
Her son, a pre-schooler, remained unharmed inside the vehicle.
Pon had reconciled with her ex-husband and child’s father, named Gla, after splitting from Sutat.
Gla told the police that he had been on a video call with her moments before the shooting.
She mentioned she was meeting her ex to collect the fuel and he said he warned her to be careful before ending the call.
Shortly afterwards, he received news of the shooting.
Investigators believe the motive was a combination of jealousy and revenge.
She reportedly exposed details about him that led to his dismissal from his job four or five days earlier.
Sutat fled the scene in a grey Toyota Vigo pickup truck.
On Monday (8 June), after a police chase in Sung Noen district, his vehicle suffered a tyre blowout.
Cornered by officers, he reportedly shot himself dead at the wheel.

In a final phone call to a friend, he denied any affair-related motive but admitted stress over the situation, claiming he had tried to end the relationship when the victim allegedly threatened his family.
He sent bank details asking to borrow money, insisting he would “run as far as possible”.
The victim’s family later collected her body from Saraburi Hospital for funeral rites at a local temple.
Police have recovered a 9mm pistol linked to the crime and continue to gather evidence, as reported by Need To Know.
The case has shocked Thailand’s online community, highlighting the dangers faced by young women in the public eye amid turbulent personal relationships.
The investigation is ongoing.
