A tourist died in her partner’s arms after suffering a catastrophic head injury during a sailing trip in Greece.
Eleonora Guareschi, 52, was enjoying a day at sea with her partner and another couple when tragedy struck aboard an Italian-flagged yacht.
The experienced sailor, who held a nautical licence and was well known for her love of the sea, is believed to have fallen and hit her head on either the boom or the mast.

She suffered a traumatic head injury and died instantly.
The accident happened near the Greek island of Kalamos, a popular yachting destination in the Ionian Sea, on Saturday (27 June).
Emergency services were alerted immediately and the Hellenic Coast Guard escorted the vessel to the nearest harbour.
Eleonora, from Parma, Italy, was taken to a local hospital where her death was confirmed.
Her body is expected to be transferred to Patras for a post-mortem examination before being repatriated to Italy.

Greek investigators have treated the incident as a tragic accident and say there is no evidence of foul play, as reported by Need To Know.
The three other people on board were questioned by authorities and later released.
The yacht, which was temporarily seized as part of the investigation, has since been returned.
Eleonora has been remembered in her hometown as a kind and generous woman whose death has left family, friends and the wider community devastated.
Those who knew her said her passion for sailing and the sea was a defining part of her life.
