A young man developed a rare condition that caused his scalp to thicken and form deep folds resembling a human brain.
The bizarre condition was fixed after an epic 11-month medical procedure.
The 23-year-old patient, named as Xiao Li, first noticed a small hardened area on his head several years ago.

The problem worsened over time, with his scalp growing thicker and developing large ridges and grooves across half of his head.
The unusual brain-like folds severely affected his appearance and caused significant psychological distress as he struggled to find effective treatment.
After failed surgeries at local hospitals and being turned away by multiple facilities due to the complexity of his condition, he was finally treated at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University in China.
The medical team, led by deputy chief physician Zhou Wei, carried out an ambitious 11-month skin expansion procedure.
They used a combination of scarred tissue and the small amount of remaining healthy scalp at the back of his head, as reported by Need To Know.
The team gradually stretched the skin with precise saline injections, carefully expanding it step by step to cultivate enough healthy tissue complete with normal hair follicles.
In the final operation, which lasted over three hours, surgeons meticulously removed all the diseased thickened skin while protecting blood vessels and nerves.
They then used the expanded healthy flaps to close the large wound perfectly.
The young man’s scalp now has normal texture and can grow hair again, with his head appearance restored to normal.
Medical experts described the condition as extremely rare, especially when combined with extensive previous scarring.
The successful case is being viewed as a potential model for treating similar complex scalp disorders in China.
