An ex-Porto footballer has tragically died aged 26 after collapsing while out running.
Usalifa “Ussa” José Indi died on Monday (20 July) while running alone.
A passer-by alerted authorities at around 9pm after Indi reportedly felt unwell and collapsed unconscious on a road in Armil, Fafe, Portugal.

When emergency responders arrived, they found him unresponsive. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene in the Retorta area.
His body was later taken to the morgue at Senhora da Oliveira Hospital in Guimarães, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
No signs of a crime were detected, with authorities believing he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.
Indi was not carrying any identification documents, meaning his identity was only established yesterday (21 July) morning.
Born in Guinea-Bissau on 3 December 1999, Indi held dual Guinean and Portuguese nationality, as reported by Need To Know.
He joined FC Porto’s youth academy at the age of 18 and represented the club’s Under-19 team during the 2017/18 season, making three appearances.
The central midfielder also played for Cesarense, União de Leiria, Valadares Gaia, FC Pedras Rubras, Vitória de Sernache, Vila Meã and Macedo de Cavaleiros.
His most recent club, and only spell abroad, was Estonia’s Harju JK, who announced his signing in March 2023.
Indi remained part of Harju JK’s first-team squad this season, but several injuries prevented him from making appearances.
The club and player mutually agreed to end their partnership in June this year, and Indi returned to Portugal.
Harju JK said: “The entire club will remember Ussa as an exceptionally kind and warm person, who always gave his all on the pitch and was a role model for the whole team through his hard work and commitment.”
Cesarense described him as “a person of great humility and dedication”.
