A doctor was found stabbed to death in her flat with her eight-month-old son beside her after neighbours heard the baby crying.
Gassi Paola de Souza Mazia, 37, was discovered lying face down on the floor of her home on Saturday (5 September) night.
Worried neighbours had called emergency services after hearing her infant son crying for an extended period and getting no answer at the door.

Responders entered the property and discovered Gassi’s body with three knives nearby.
Her baby boy was found close to his mum.
Detective Adriano Garcia said Gassi appeared to have suffered around 10 stab wounds, as reported by Need To Know.
Her husband, João Vitor Domingues Romeiro, 25, was later arrested on suspicion of femicide.
He allegedly confessed to killing Gassi while at a relative’s home in nearby Mandaguari.
The relative told police: “He told me that he and Gassi had had an argument and that he had killed her.”
Romeiro was taken to hospital under police guard after suffering knife wounds to his neck.
As of yesterday (8 September), he remained in intensive care in a serious condition with a tracheostomy and was unable to communicate verbally.
Police believe Gassi had ended their relationship and allege Romeiro killed her after refusing to accept the break-up.
Prosecutors claim he “broke into” the property in Maringá, Brazil, and “executed” Gassi before spending several hours with her body.
He is then alleged to have left the flat, leaving their eight-month-old son alone inside with his mum’s body.
Investigators are still trying to establish how long the youngster was left alone.
Gassi worked at a GP surgery in Sarandi and was laid to rest on Monday (7 September) morning.
Romeiro, a lawyer, held a council-appointed position at Marialva City Council but was dismissed following Gassi’s death.
Heartbroken friend and fellow doctor Ana Furlan has since paid tribute to Gassi and the future they had imagined raising their children together.
She said: “I’ll never know what it would have been like to raise our children together.
“But I’ll always imagine it, remember you with love and think about what we would have been doing.
“We became pregnant around the same time without even planning it, were transformed by this immeasurable, inexplicable love, and made plans to live the best chapter of our lives.
“I’ll always tell him what a wonderful mother you were and how much you loved him.
“I’ll be one of the many people who will do everything I can to make sure he is loved and help him find a way to move forward after this terribly unfair tragedy.”
