A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a “kind and caring” grandmother who was found dead in her home.
Rose Johnston, 68, suffered a blunt force head injury in the assault.
Her devastated family have been left in a “state of shock and disbelief” and desperate for answers over what happened to their beloved mum.

Police have now arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of Rose’s murder.
He remains in custody where he is being questioned by detectives.
It is the second arrest in the investigation after a 37-year-old man was detained on suspicion of murder in May, as reported by Need To Know.
He was later released on conditional bail.
Rose was discovered at her home on Ancroft Road in Dovecot, Liverpool, at around 12:35pm on 4 October last year (2025).
She has been remembered as a loving mum and grandmother who enjoyed trips away with her sister and walks along the beach.
Her family previously said: “The impact the loss of my mum has had is a constant source of pain for our whole family.
“As a family we are still in a state of shock and disbelief as to why this has happened to my beautiful mum.
“As a family we are desperate for answers and to find peace for us and our beloved mum.”
Those who knew Rose described her as “nice, innocent and kind”, while one neighbour remembered her as a “beautiful woman”.
Another person said: “She was so lovely. She just kept herself to herself.
“It’s heartbreaking, poor Rose. She would always say hello and ask how you were, just a quiet lady.”
A post-mortem examination found Rose died from a blunt force head injury.
Detectives have since carried out extensive enquiries, including house-to-house visits and examinations of CCTV and forensic evidence.
A £20,000 Crimestoppers reward has also been offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Walsh said following the latest arrest: “Although we have made a second arrest our enquiries remain ongoing and it is vital that anybody with information who hasn’t already come forward does so as a matter of urgency.
“We need people to tell us about any suspicious activity they heard or saw around the time of Rose’s murder or any CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage they may have or have seen which could assist with our investigation.
“Rose’s family have been living without answers for over 11 months now but we remain committed to finding the person responsible for her death and bringing them to justice.
“My appeal remains with the local community to come forward and tell us what you know.”
