A car demolished after getting struck by a ‘ballistic war missile’ is miraculously still functional.
Danil Kryvoruchko’s dream car was sadly caught up in the tragedy of the Ukrainian conflict.
A missile exploded just metres away from the 2021 Volkswagen Touareg R-Line with a 3.0 TSI petrol engine.

The huge explosion caused massive damage to the car, with one side of the vehicle completely blown off.
“The blast wave and fragments caused severe damage to the vehicle,” Danil from Kyiv, Ukraine, told Need To Know.

“The bodywork was badly damaged, the windows were shattered, and the car looked as if it would never drive again.
“A ballistic missile struck near my car, with the explosion occurring approximately five metres away.”
The shocking explosion happened on 6 Jul as part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The Volkswagen’s bodywork was heavily damaged, the windows were completely smashed, and it was left looking like scrap metal.
However, miraculously, the motor is still drivable – despite the devastating damage done to it.
Danil said: “What makes this story remarkable is that, despite the extent of the damage, the car still started and was able to drive afterwards.
“Seeing a vehicle in that condition still running was something I could hardly believe myself.
“Living in Kyiv means that the war can affect your life in ways you never expect.
“One moment, you have something you’ve worked hard for and dreamed about owning; the next, it is caught in the destruction caused by a missile strike.”
Since discovering his dream car is still usable, Danil has been sharing his videos online.
He is aiming to show the world the life of an everyday Ukrainian during the horrific war.
Clips on TikTok have racked up over 1.7m views.
Danil added: “Since the incident, I’ve been sharing videos of the car on TikTok to show what happened and to bring attention to my story.
“I’ve also been trying to reach Volkswagen directly.
“For me, this is not only about a damaged vehicle.
“It’s also about sharing a real story from Ukraine and showing what happened to an ordinary person’s dream during the war.
“I would love for this story to reach an international audience, especially Volkswagen itself.”
