A businessman died after reportedly foaming at the mouth during a facelift procedure at a cosmetic clinic.
Married dad-of-two João Victor Batista Pinheiro, 45, was undergoing a facelift around his temples at a clinic in an affluent area of Fortaleza, Brazil.
But during the procedure, which was carried out under anaesthetic on 18 August, João began foaming at the mouth.

Medics reportedly made seven attempts to revive him, but he tragically died.
João had been a client at dental surgeon Michele França’s clinic for two years and had previously undergone other cosmetic procedures there.
He had even appeared in an advert for the clinic in 2025, as reported by Need To Know.
In the clip, João said: “I’ve been coming to her for about a year, a year and a half, and we’re always working on improving things, rejuvenating my skin, my face and my whole body.”
His family said João was healthy and exercised regularly.
However, a forensic document obtained by local media reportedly stated that he had a history of hypertension.
Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding João’s death, including whether there was any possible negligence or wilful misconduct.
Espaço Michele França said in a statement that “all appropriate medical measures were taken throughout the treatment at the clinic, with the professional team responding immediately when the medical emergency occurred”.
However, lawyer Alysson Castro, who represents João’s family, claimed the clinic did not have a defibrillator.
João was married with two children and owned Casa de Fogos São João.
He had spent more than 20 years running the family business, which sold products and staged pyrotechnic displays at events.
João had worked with major artists from Brazil’s Ceará state, including Mari Fernandez, Wesley Safadão, Xand Avião and Taty Girl.
His company had also secured contracts for shows organised by local authorities and major events across the state.
João was laid to rest in Caucaia last Thursday (20 August).
His cause of death has not yet been officially determined.
The anaesthesia team led by Walédya Melo said: “At this time, we are awaiting the completion and release of the official forensic report, which will help clarify the circumstances surrounding what happened.
“We remain fully available to the authorities and the courts, and will cooperate transparently by providing any information and clarification required.”
