An American tourist has been seriously injured after jumping from a bridge nearly 100ft above the sea at a beauty spot.
The New Jersey man, reported to be 22 or 23, plunged into the water from the bridge over the spectacular Fiordo di Furore gorge on Italy’s Amalfi Coast yesterday afternoon (5 October).
He had reportedly been with a group of friends, who watched from the beach as he made the leap.

The tourist jumped from around 30m (98ft) above the water, before hitting the surface awkwardly and suffering a cut to his back.
Doctors reportedly suspected a spinal injury, while investigators were looking into whether he may have struck rocks on the way down.
Emergency services were immediately called following the impact, as reported by Need To Know.
A Red Cross ambulance with medical staff rushed to the scene, where medics treated the injured tourist before requesting an air ambulance.
He was initially taken to hospital in Castiglione di Ravello before being flown by helicopter to Salerno.
He is not believed to be in a life-threatening condition.
The Amalfi Carabinieri are now carrying out checks into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The dramatic Fiordo di Furore is a gorge with a small beach tucked beneath towering cliffs and a bridge carrying the SS163 road high above the water.
The area reportedly has signs warning people not to jump or dive.
Local media also reported that videos of people making similar high-risk leaps from the road and bridge had appeared on social media during the summer.
And it is not the first time a tourist has suffered serious injury after taking the plunge at the beauty spot.
In July 2025, another American tourist was reportedly seriously injured after jumping from the same spot.
