A man claims to have cooked burgers on top of a fridge in just 30 minutes – cooked by the sun on the UK’s hottest day in history.
Danny Haw, 30, from Pontefract, West Yorkshire, had been enjoying 37-degree heat yesterday (19 July) when he started to become a bit peckish at 2pm – but he wasn’t too keen on turning the oven on.
Having successfully cooked bacon and eggs earlier this week, Danny thought he’d try his hand at burgers on the make-shift BBQ.

Footage shows Danny laying down the beef patties on top of the standalone fridge in his garden, which he had previously spray painted black to encourage more heat from the sun.
Using a wallpaper scraper, Danny flipped the meat and was delighted to see it browning off.
He then films from his house, showing the fridge in the middle of his driveway with his lunch cooking in the scorching sun.
After just half an hour his burger was fully cooked, and Danny can be seen toasting the burger buns on surface for a couple of minutes before piecing it together and chowing down.

“It tasted absolutely great – delicious even,” Danny told NeedToKnow.online.
“It tasted like a pan-fried burger.
“I recently bought a stainless-steel catering fridge which was why it was left out in the garden.
“When I woke up in the morning it was absolutely roasting and I just thought I’d give cooking on top of it a go.
“My friends and family are gobsmacked by it.”
Danny shared the video on TikTok (@dannyhaw) which has racked up 146,000 views – but social media users were divided on the savvy cooking.

One social media user said: “No way it’s actually cooking omds.” [sic]
Another person added: “Cost of living crisis got so bad the sun helping us now.”
Another TikTok user commented: “Nobody mentioning the wallpaper scraper? “
Another person said: “Good way to get food poisoning,” which prompted Danny to reply: “Been eating on it all heatwave never felt better.”
Someone else added: “Omg then you get the chemicals from the stay on it and flys for extra protein.” [sic]
