Restaurant raises eyebrows with £250 CAVIAR mince pie – but it’s all for a good cause

A restaurant has raised eyebrows after adding a rather pricey item to the menu ahead of Christmas – a mince pie filled with caviar.

Made specially to order for £250 a pop, the premium snack was launched by The Glory Stores – a restaurant that also sells popular items online.

But while the fish roe delicacy will set you back a pretty penny, it’s all for a good cause – with all profits being donated to the Trussell Trust.

The charity supports a nationwide network of food banks and provides emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, as well as campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

The quirky treat has the standard pastry crust of a traditional mince pie, but is covered in black caviar and topped off with a seasonal dash of what appears to be gold leaf.

Shaun Houcke, proprietor, The Glory Stores, in Cardiff, said: “We are so excited to launch our limited-edition caviar mince pies. They are made for those with a big love for festive flavours and enjoy an alternative to the traditional tastes.

“At The Glory Stores we believe it is important to give back, particularly at this time of year, which is why we are donating all profits of our caviar pies to the Trussell Trust, who not only do incredible work throughout the festive season, but all year round.”
