Story from Jam Press (TikTok Dr Sleep) Pictured: Dr. Karan Rajan. TikTok doctor reveals shocking reason you aren’t taller – and there's a simple fix A doctor has gone viral on TikTok after revealing the shocking reason some people don’t grow as tall as others. Dr. Karan Rajan, a surgical doctor, and lecturer at Sunderland University shares his experience and knowledge with his 5 million followers on TikTok. In a recent post, he left viewers stunned after sharing the key reason our growth could be delayed – and how to fix it. The post was viewed 147,000 times, with users finally getting an explanation as to why they aren’t as tall as others. In the clip, Dr. Raj says: “You might be missing out on this important phase of sleep if you delay your bedtime. “The early part of the night is dominated by NREM sleep – non-rapid eye movement sleep. “This is important because NREM sleep includes the deeper restorative slow-wave sleep that’s coupled with the biggest release of growth hormone in your 24 hours. “In fact, in men, 70% of growth hormone is released during slow-wave sleep. “As the night goes on, the ratio of NREM to REM changes and you get progressively less NREM and more REM sleep. “So if you delay your bedtime, you cut short the time you spend in slow-wave sleep and so you get less of that juicy growth hormone. “And here’s when it gets even worse – as you get older into your 30s and 40s, the total amount of growth hormone released in 24 hours decreases and the amount of slow wave sleep also decreases. “This makes it even more important to go to bed at a similar time every day so you can scoop up every last bit of growth hormone.” Dr. Raj captioned the post: “A crucial nugget of knowledge!” One person commented: “Explains why I'm not tall.” “Did perpetually staying up late as a teenager stunt my growth then?” another user guessed. Someone else said: “That’s why I’m not growing.” “Wish I cou

Dr. Raj captioned the post: “A crucial nugget of knowledge!”

One person commented: “Explains why I’m not tall.”

“Did perpetually staying up late as a teenager stunt my growth then?” another user guessed.

Someone else said: “That’s why I’m not growing.”

“Wish I could go back in time to grow more,” another viewer added.

Someone else commented: “Man your content is so helpful.”

“Going to bed early now,” said one user.

Another person asked: “Man how do insomniacs FIX this, all these studies about sleep being important stressing me out.”

“I…hear you, uhm, I will sleep now,” said another follower.

Another viewer wondered: “So I can still grow taller???”

“I have insomnia, so that explains why I am so short,” said another person.

Another person wrote: “Point taken. Good night!”

“Explains why I’ve never seen a tall doctor,” joked someone else.
