A 20-year-old named Benjamín Vera earned £1,000 by emerging victorious in the “24 hours of doing nothing” competition held on Tuesday (23 Jan).

Contestants, limited to 50 participants, were required to spend the entire day on an inclined beach chair without using phones or interacting.

Benjamín, a sociology student selected by organizers Mercado Pago, described the 23rd hour as the most challenging.

Benjamín Vera, the winner of the “24 hours of doing nothing” competition, expressed his mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion during the contest.

He shared, “I couldn’t take it anymore.

I was shattered, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

I didn’t realize how I was until I got up and noticed that my legs and head hurt, and I was exhausted.”

Benjamín, residing in Maipú, won £1,000 and plans to use the money for a vacation with his girlfriend.

During the tie-breaker, he envisioned enjoying a holiday together and emphasized the difficulty of doing nothing for 24 hours without distractions like phones or computers.
