Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham from hit show SAS: Who Dares Wins is leading a trio of ex-forces members to take on 100 people in an intense paintball showdown.

The 58-year-old, who served in the SAS for 27 years, has teamed up with British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) to help launch their new UK schedule.

Fans can watch how the former sergeant major and special forces instructor and his team ran rings round the opposition at BFBS Paintball.

Billy was accompanied by Richard French, an ex-sniper who served with the Coldstream Guards, the 3rd Battalion and The Parachute Regiment.

The two were joined by Hannah May, a former sergeant in the Royal Artillery and instructor at Larkhill, the British Army’s principal training centre for artillery warfare.

The trio combined over 60 years of military experience to beat wave after wave of paintball wielding opponents.

The event, organised by BFBS, was held at Go Paintball London and aimed to celebrate the exceptional abilities of the British military and to acknowledge their resilience in extreme situations.

Billy Billingham said: “I have a lot of great memories of BFBS Radio – it was that comfort blanket for me while being away from home with the military for the first time.

“For this reason, it was fantastic to be part of the paintball challenge to launch BFBS Radio’s new UK schedule.

“For me, this victory highlights the skills of the British forces across the spectrum and what they’re capable of, despite the odds often being stacked against them.”

The radio station offers a blend of classic tracks, new music and engaging content that gives listeners an insight into stories from the forces.

The paintball event accompanies the release of the station’s new schedule, which listeners can check out on the radio app, on their Digital Radio or smart speaker.

The schedule includes a new national breakfast show, a drivetime show that is networked worldwide and an evening show from BFBS Northern Ireland.

Nicky Ness, Director of Broadcasting and Entertainment at BFBS said: “BFBS Radio prides itself on its unwavering commitment to celebrating the remarkable skills of the British armed forces.

“Through entertainment and awareness on our radio station in the UK, we aim to bring the military community closer to the public, fostering understanding and appreciation.

“This event was just a glimpse of the incredible feats our armed forces can achieve in the face of adversity, and we’re proud to share their story with the world.”
