Sport fans from all over the world will be travelling to cheer on their nation in a multitude of events.

But the famous selfie stick that peaked in popularity in 2014 has been blacklisted from all venues at the games, as reported by Need To Know.

Spectators wanting to get a full view of the grounds in their selfies will need to rely on their limbs alone.

The unusual ruling has been listed in the official guidelines for prohibited items.

Fans will be refused entry to all sporting events if they are carrying a selfie stick.

The accessory has been listed as a potential weapon, with fears of frustrated spectators using the stick to demonstrate their emotions.

Selfie sticks, which mobile phones attach to, are loved by social media-loving Gen Zs to get the perfect snap.

But they are loathed by older generations for ruining the moment.

The ruling states: “The ticket holders are notified that the venues, including the Venue’s surrounding and any security perimeter, will not be providing lockers and each person will be responsible for monitoring and securing their own personal belongings.

“It is recommended that ticket holders do not bring bulky objects or items that may be prohibited items as indicated below.

“Weapons of opportunity: selfie poles, everyday blades such as multi-tools, scissors, razors etc, tools such as hammers, wrenches, saws, screwdrivers, etc that can malevolently be used as a weapon to inflict harm.

“Access to the Venue may be refused, without reimbursement, to any Person in possession of objects on a list of objects prohibited under applicable legal or regulatory provisions (notably Article L.332-8 of the French Sports Code and Article 132-75 of the French Criminal Code) or under the Venue Rules.

“The ticket holder must comply with all applicable security laws and regulations within the venue.”
