A woman who sustained severe injuries from an attack while walking her dog has died, according to police reports.

Anita Rose, aged 57, was discovered unconscious on a path in Brantham, Suffolk, on Wednesday.

She succumbed to her injuries at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge on Sunday morning.

Authorities have re-arrested a 45-year-old man from the Ipswich area, initially detained on suspicion of attempted murder, now on suspicion of murder.

Ms. Rose was found by a passerby at approximately 06:25 BST on Wednesday, lying on a track situated between a railway line and a sewage treatment plant. It is believed she had set out from her home around 05:00 to walk her springer spaniel, Bruce, in the village located on the River Stour estuary at the Essex-Suffolk border.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene off Rectory Lane by ambulance personnel shortly after 08:00. Notably, Ms. Rose’s distinctive pink jacket remained missing.

The suspect underwent questioning at Martlesham Heath Investigation Centre. Additionally, Suffolk Police apprehended a 37-year-old woman on Saturday on suspicion of handling stolen property. Both individuals have been released on police bail and are scheduled to return on October 25.

Police announced the recovery of Ms. Rose’s previously missing mobile phone. Detective Superintendent Mike Brown stated that Ms. Rose’s family is being supported by specially trained officers and that the investigation into the full circumstances of the crime and the cause of death is ongoing.

He confirmed that the crime scene on Rectory Lane has been cleared. House-to-house inquiries are continuing, and police are appealing to the public for any relevant information from CCTV or doorbell cameras.

Ms. Rose, a mother of six and grandmother to 13, was deeply cherished in her community, according to a family statement released through the police.

The family expressed their profound grief and urged anyone with information to come forward. They also thanked the community for their support and emphasized the importance of treasuring time with loved ones.
