Santa Claus and the Grinch have been arrested after fighting over tips.

A video of the altercation has gone viral after it kicked off at a Christmas show in front of stunned families.

The two men, dressed in their festive costumes, were arguing over the best spot for attracting visitors.

A brawl broke out after one of them felt they had earned less tips than the other, according to reports.

In the video, several police officers can be seen handcuffing the Grinch.

A few metres away, Santa Claus is crouched down on the ground.

In between them, a young boy looks at the pair in disbelief.

Santa Claus was also taken away by police but did not need to be restrained, as reported by Need To Know.

The fight took place in the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico, on 16 December.

Since the fight, those who witnessed the fight have called for event organisers to prevent anything like this from happening again.

They said they felt it dampened the Christmas spirit.
