A brazen shoplifter who pinched food from M&S before shoving staff out of the way as they tried to stop him has been jailed.

It happened on December 23 last year amid a spate of shop thefts across the UK amid the cost-of-living crisis.

He didn’t cover his face as he plucked jars off the shelf and shoved them in his bag.

Brave workers of the Marks and Spencer Food store in Chancery Lane, Holborn, City of London were powerless to stop him.

It has banned him from entering the Square Mile for five years.

Moss, of Highbury New Park, Islington, north London admitted five counts of theft.

Sgt James Wood, of the Proactive Acquisitive Crime team, City of London Police, said: “This is a reminder to any shoplifter who thinks they can steal from businesses in the City.

“We will find you and bring you before the courts.

“We will use all our resources in keeping businesses and members of the public safe.”

He added: “Duane Moss had committed these offences with no thought or consideration to anybody he had come across.

“This CBO will act as a deterrent to reoffending.

If Moss breaches his CBO, he could face further jail time.”

Londoners hailed the crook getting banged up, as reported on Need To Know.

David Cox fumed: “A pathetic version of a man.”
