A passenger allegedly slapped a man who was having a panic attack in the face during a flight.

The dramatic scenes unfolded on an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata, India, on Friday (1 Aug), as reported by Need To Know.

The man, wearing a white shirt, allegedly smacked his fellow traveller in the face while the victim was held back by cabin crew.

Other passengers reportedly yelled that the man was having a panic attack and needed some water.

The victim, wearing a skull cap and visibly distressed, was being assisted by airline staff before the alleged assault occurred.

In shocking footage, crew members can be heard urging the man to keep his hands to himself.

One passenger can be heard saying: “We all have problems.

“But you shouldn’t have raised your hand.”

The person filming the video says: “You don’t have the right to hit anybody, do you understand?

“He’s getting a panic attack. Just give him some water.”

The man who allegedly assaulted the passenger was eventually escorted off of the plane by staff.

An Indigo spokesperson said: “At IndiGo, the safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our foremost priority.

“Following due diligence, the incident involving an unruly customer has been formally reported to the relevant authorities for necessary action.

“In line with our commitment to discourage such unruly behaviour onboard flights, the individual has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights, in accordance with regulatory provisions.

“We remain committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for all onboard. Thank you for your continued trust.”
