More than 800 dodgy Labubu dolls have been seized in a huge market raid after being branded a danger to kids.

The viral elf-like toy, made by Chinese firm Pop Mart, has taken the UK by storm.

It has sparked a wave of cheap knock-offs flooding stalls and online sites.

Trading Standards officers swooped on Penkridge Market, Staffordshire, where they confiscated 840 counterfeit Labubu dolls along with 200 fake accessories, from copycat clothes to dodgy keyrings.

Shoppers were warned to steer clear of the fakes, which fall apart easily, pose a choking hazard and in some cases even contain harmful chemicals.

The raid also uncovered 46 counterfeit Apple AirPods and 143 illegal vapes, as reported by Need To Know.

It took place last Wednesday (20 Aug).

Anthony Screen, from Staffordshire County Council, said: “We are determined to crack down on counterfeiters and people who think it is acceptable to sell fake and harmful goods to the public, like these knock-off Labubu dolls.

“Counterfeit products aren’t just a con – they can be dangerous to your health, your safety, and your community.

“Every fake sold puts people at risk and takes money from honest local businesses.

“When you’re shopping, especially at markets or car boot sales, think twice.

“If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.”
